Have a Blessed Thanksgiving

Turkey. Dressing. Cranberry Sauce. Pumpkin Pie. Family. Friends. Football. What more could you ask for on the day we celebrate called Thanksgiving. It is a day I look forward to all year long. And as much fun as I have with all of the food and people and sports on this weekend, it really is a time to stop and look up and give Thanks to God for his many blessings that He has given to us, and that He is to us.

I Chr. 16:34..."Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever". I am so glad that Our God is good. His motives for everything He does are only in our best interest.
I Corin. 15:57..."But Thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ".
And the greatest thing we have to be thankful for of course is our Salvation! Praise Him for the free gift of Salvation!
No matter what trial or suffering we may be going through at this time, and I know some people are going through the fire now, we still have much to be thankful for.
Today as you look around the table and in your heart feel thankful that you are with the ones you love...don't forget to also look up and thank Him for making it all possible.
God bless you and Yours on this special day :)

Created to be Loved

Did you know that your appearance on planet Earth is no accident? Nope. It was planned ....well....let's just say...a long time ago. Before your parents were born, or your Grandparents, or your Great-Great Grandparents...and even before this Earth was ever hanging out in space, God was thinking about you, and planning your trip to Earth. Read what God's Word has to say about it.

Psalm 139:13-18...You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered. I can't even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!

See, I told you. Isn't God amazing! He created you because He wants to love you! And the neatest thing is that God is a perfect Gentleman. He never forces His way into anyone's life. He must be invited. And because we all have sinned and chosen our own way, we do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ(God). So we must ask Him to forgive us of our sins and invite Him into our life and trust Him completely to forgive us of all our sins. And then He really makes Himself known to us and loves us like we never thought was possible. He said it this way:

John 3:16..For God so loved the world(us), that He gave His one and only Son(Jesus), that whosoever believes(trusts) in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.

You were created to be loved!!
Pray something like this:
Jesus, Thank you for creating me to love me. I'm sorry that I have chosen to go my own way and to sin. Please forgive me of all my sins and come into my life. I completely trust You to save me and forgive me. Please come to me and show me Your love in a way that I have never experienced before. Thank You Jesus!

The Power of Words

In our society today, we are constantly worried about terrorists and nuclear bombs, and we should be. But there is something we all are using everyday that can be more devastating than any bombs or more uplifting than any gift or success or any amount of money. I am talking about "words".
James 3:2 says, "We all make mistakes, but those who control their tongues can also control themselves in every other way". It is not easy to control your tongue because it is so powerful. Sometimes it is easy to spit out words that we should not say, but we don't seem to have the power to hold them in.
James goes on to say that with a small bridle you can control the power of a horse. And with a small rudder you can control the movements of a large ship.
James is illustrating here that with words you can control your destiny just like you can control the destiny of the horse with the bridle or the ship with the rudder.
The words that you speak can encourage you and others or they can harm and destroy you and others.
You know what I mean don't you? You have spoken hurtful words probably. Someone has probably spoken hurtful words to you before too.
Ask The Lord to help you to choose your words wisely.
Proverbs 12:18...the words of the wise bring healing.

I heard it from Lou Holtz

A few years ago I watched a leadership video featuring Lou Holtz. In the video he quoted a poem that moved me so much that I memorized it and have quoted it and thought about it often. It speaks of how much more valuable it is to be a person who builds up instead of one who tears down.

I saw a group of men in my hometown
I saw a group of men tearing a building down
A heave and a hoe and a mighy yell
They swung a beam and a side wall fell
I said to the foreman
Are these men skilled?
The type you would hire if you want to build?
He laughed and said why no indeed
Common labor is all I need
For I can tear down in a day or two
What it took a builder ten years to do
So I thought to myself as I walked away
what type of role am I going to play?
Am I the kind that is tearing down?
As I make my way foolishly around
Or am I the kind that my Lord, my Family, or
My Country will be glad that I was there?

The greatest Truth I ever heard

When I was nineteen years old I came to the realization that Jesus loved me just the way that I was. I had always thought that one day when I get it all together , then I'm gonna come to Jesus. But I couldn't get it all together. I thought that maybe if I ever get mature enough and smart enough and strong enough, well, then I will come to Jesus. But what if I died trying to get mature enough, smart enough, and strong enough. I was scared, insecure, and confused.
But then someone pointed me to the Truth found in the Bible. "for God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone that believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16. Jesus came to this world to die for me even though I was sinful, when I was weak, when I didn't have it all together, when I wasn't mature, or smart, or good. He died for me to help me to get it all together because he loves me just the way I am.
He loves you too just the way you are. Ask Him to come into your heart right now to forgive you of all your sins and change you into the person He created you to be. You will be changed forever. By Love!

My First

Hello Blogosphere. This is my first post here. I don't know anything about blogging, but I wanted to give it a try because the potential for communicating with so many other people is enormous. After all, people is what life is all about anyway. So, I don't know everything that I will write about, but I will write about things that are important to me. And I will write about things that I think others should hear.
